All I can say about New Year's is that we ate and ate and ate
Dinner consisted of smoked salmon, the most tender, juicy, flavorful steaks I have ever eaten in my entire life, scalloped potatoes, an abundant array of pungent cheeses and a delicious chocolate bûche (pictured above)....
....and the delectable macarons (pictured below) in a plethora of aromas such as caramel, violet, licorice, chocolate, lemon, raspberry, rose, pistachio, vanilla and so on and so forth - a delicate explosion of flavors and colors!
This is not a good way to start out the New Year's resolutions of moderation in all things, especially eating! Because the next day, believe it or not, we feasted again on foie gras, capon, more salads and cheeses and leftover desserts plus Françoise's homemade tiramisu, which I absolutely adore!
Frédéric & Françoise and our niece Laure were our generous hosts and we were joined by our good friends Daniel & Itzel and their two children. We talked, we laughed, we watched movies, we stayed up until 4 in the morning and slept in late the next day! What a great way to start the new year! (Jean-Albert & Francine and Mamie de Chatou were also with us for dinner on the 31st, but went home early so that Mamie de Chatou could rest.)
