A good shot of courage

I'm back to work today, but I've still got Gabriela home sick. She's feeling a little better although still very tired. She's got a little raspy voice and it is irresistible, so is her cute smile as she watches her favorite Alvin and the Chipmunks blu-ray.

My daycare toddlers are napping. I'm weary to the bone tired and I had to peel myself off of my living room sofa and away from my book, mustering up all the courage I could find. I need a good shot of courage. A glass of orange juice, maybe?

I have two goals for today:
1. Make bread.
2. Make every room in my home a little more lovely. And all the other normal to-do stuff, of course.

That's not too much to ask, is it?
Okay. Let's do this!

P.S. This is my absolute favorite drawing by my sweet Gabi.

How do you get going when the going gets tough?

  1. I pick one thing to accomplish, whether it is go through one stack of school papers off of the dining table, or put away the several DVDs that didn't make it back into the boxes after being watched, or dusting the one bookcase where the light from the window is shining and it bugs me because I can see the dust. I have then accomplished ONE thing that day, and sometimes that's all we can ask of ourselves. (though it often gives me the "uumph" to accomplish even more.)

  2. I hope she gets feeling better!

I sit down and play the piano for a bit, or until I feel ready to tackle things. Just taking that few minutes to myself resets me a little and helps me get going.

  3. Oh man...our last couple days have been like that...not with sick kids, but just having to focus on one thing at a time to get through the day. Hang in there.
